Hohoe United Football Club have announced their immediate withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League, citing a decision taken by the club’s board following an emergency meeting.

In a statement posted on the club’s official Facebook page, the board described the move as a difficult but necessary step, adding that the decision will be formally communicated to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in due course.

Per league regulations, the GFA is expected to trigger the appropriate sanctions once it receives official notification. Article 13(5) of the competition rules stipulates that any club withdrawing after the start of the season will forfeit all remaining fixtures, with opponents awarded three points and three goals for each scheduled match.

The development is set to impact the remainder of the 2025/26 season, as Hohoe United’s remaining matches will be treated as forfeits.

Hohoe United, formerly known as Liberty Professionals, currently sit second from bottom on the league table with 30 points after 27 matches in the 18-team competition.

The club earned promotion to the top flight last season after winning the Division One League Zone Three with an impressive 72 points.
