Tiger Woods‘ latest arrest generated global headlines after the golf legend spent eight hours behind bars following a high-speed crash and subsequent DUI arrest.
Woods, 50, was arrested on Friday afternoon after he tried to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed on a residential Jupiter Island road, clipping the back of the vehicle and tipping his own SUV onto its side.
After clambering out of the passenger side window of his vehicle, Woods refused to give a urine sample to cops and was arrested for DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
He was transported to Martin County Public Safety Complex where he was booked at around 3pm, and his latest mugshot taken.
Cops released the remarkable image to the public shortly after 10pm, with Woods’ eyes puffy and bloodshot.
This was not Woods’s first issue behind the wheel. He was arrested for another DUI in 2017 after police found him slumped in his car in Florida with five drugs in his system, including two painkillers.

He admitted to taking prescription drugs and didn’t realise how it would interact.
After taking part in an out-of-state intensive programme, Woods pled guilty and took part in a first-time DUI offender programme. At a second arraignment, Woods was given a year probation, was fined $250, and was ordered to undergo 50 hours of community service as well as regular drug tests.
In 2021, Woods survived a serious rollover crash in California where he was found to be driving twice the speed limit. No charges were filed, but Woods shattered his right leg after he was trapped under the vehicle. He needed multiple surgeries in order to recover from his injuries.
He also crashed into a fire hydrant in November 2009 as he tried to flee his Florida home after wife Elin Nordegren discovered he had been having an affair. It sparked an unravelling of his reputation that he has never truly recovered from.
With Woods having now had two mugshots taken following his 2017 and 2026 arrests, images of other golfers have gone viral.

Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler found himself in the spotlight in bizarre circumstances at the PGA Championships back in 2024.
The American was arrested outside Valhalla Golf Club, just hours before his second round after trying to drive into the club in heavy traffic.
The world No.1 said a misunderstanding with police had led to him dragging an officer who clung to the golfer’s vehicle in the early hours.
Police had been attempting to direct the flow of traffic after a pedestrian had been hit and killed by a shuttle bus. Scheffler tried going around the stalled traffic and failed to recognise officers were telling him to stop.
He was taken out of his vehicle, put in handcuffs and booked at a Louisville police station. He was charged with felony second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic.
Scheffler was released and ultimately finished tied eighth at the tournament.
All charges were dropped later that month with a judge ruling that all evidence corroborated his version that the incident was a ‘big misunderstanding’.

John Daly
John Daly was once taken into custody after being found drunk outside a Hooters in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Daly has admitted that drinking has been one of his life’s biggest struggles – claiming that he started between 8-10 years old.
Later in life, he admitted that a lot of his struggle had to do with having an alcoholic father who was abusive.
He was hospitalised four times for alcohol poisoning between 1989-1993 before he did a stint in a rehab facility.
Turning his attention to burgers to reduce his need for alcohol did not last long before he started drinking beer in 1996.
His drinking problem continued throughout the rest of the 1990s and into the early 2000s. At one point, his swing coach Butch Harmon quit, saying, ‘the most important thing in (his) life is getting drunk.’
That led to the incident on October 26, 2008 where police in Winston-Salem took him in. While he wasn’t arrested or charged with a violation, officers released his mugshot to the media garnering him negative publicity.
Daly then committed to stop drinking alcohol and has stayed committed to that ever since.

Angel Cabrera
The 2009 Masters champion was convicted of assaulting, threatening, and harassing his former partner Cecilia Torres Mana in his native Argentina.
He was arrested in Rio de Janeiro in January of 2021 after Interpol sent out a ‘red notice’ to local authorities that he left Argentina without authorisation. He was extradited to Argentina that June.
A month later, he was sentenced to two years in prison for assault, theft, and illegal intimidation. The charges were initially brought forth by Torres Mana but she was joined by his ex-wife, Silva Rivadero, and another former romantic partner Micaela Escudero. He was sentenced to two years in prison.
In November of 2022, Cabrera was convicted of another assault and sentenced to an additional two years and four months in prison.
After serving all of his first sentence and only part of his second sentence, Cabrera was released on parole in August 2023.
He was reinstated on the PGA Tour in December 2023.
Last year, Cabrera competed at the Masters for the first time in six years, with the Argentine making the cut.
Speaking ahead of his Masters return, Cabrera said: ‘Obviously I regret things that happened and you learn from them, but at the same time those are in the past and we have to look forward, what’s coming.
‘I respect their opinion and everybody has their own opinion and I respect that,’ he added, acknowledging the controversy surrounding his return.

Dustin Johnson
Johnson was arrested and charged with drink driving back in March 2009 after his car was pulled over by police at 1am in South Carolina.
The rising PGA star, who was 24 at the time, issued an apology for the incident and vowed to learn from his mistake.
‘I made an error in judgment that I deeply regret,’ Johnson said in a statement.
‘I have let myself down and others who support me. I am handling the matter privately, and rest assured, I will definitely learn from my mistake.’
Johnson would make his Masters debut just weeks later, an event won by Cabrera.
The American would later claim his first major at the US Open in 2016 and won the Masters in 2020, as well as serving as world No.1 for 135 weeks.

Jose Maria Olazabal
Two-time Masters champion Olazabal was briefly detained by police in Georgia back in April 2012, shortly after leaving Augusta National.
Olazabal, who was Europe’s Ryder Cup captain at the time, was caught going 97mph in a 65-mph zone.
The Spaniard was detained for just over an hour, before paying a $621 fine for his release.

Harold Varner III
Varner was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, back in 2023 for driving while impaired.
The LIV Golf star was pulled over in Uptown Charlotte and registered a .16 BAC during a breathalyser test – twice the legal limit.
Varner, who was raised in Gastonia, North Carolina, was issued with a $500 bond which he paid and was subsequently released.

Steven Bowditch
Bowditch was arrested for ‘super extreme’ drink driving in 2017, with the incident occurring while he was playing at a PGA Tour event in the United States.
The Australian was taken into custody at the Scottsdale City Jail in Arizona on an extreme DUI charge, which meant a blood alcohol reading in excess of 0.20, police said.
‘Our legal limit is 0.08 blood alcohol and he being a 0.204 is what we classify as super extreme,’ sergeant Ben Hoster said at the time.
‘A citizen motorist called the Scottsdale Police Department to report an impaired driver that was swerving all over the road in a white pickup,’ a police statement read.

‘The officer had to wake the driver of the truck who was later identified as Steven David Bowditch [33 years old]. Bowditch was removed from the pickup and later arrested for extreme DUI.’
Because the charge was for a misdemeanour, Bowditch was able to see a judge and was released on bail in time to make his second-round tee time at the US PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open.
He would ultimately miss the cut at the event.
