Head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, Frimpong Manso, has declared that his team will not be intimidated by Medeama’s strong home record.

The 2022 Ghana Premier League champions, prior to their 2-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak, had gone five games unbeaten at home, winning three and drawing two.

This formidable home form has unsettled many teams travelling to Tarkwa to face Medeama.

However, Frimpong Manso remains confident that his side can handle the challenge at the TNA Stadium.

“Medeama are a very good side, especially at home, but that is not going to scare us in any way. What we have been doing in our away games is exactly what we’ll do again. We are not going to change our approach,” he said.

Gold Stars are the only undefeated side in the league, having won five of their ten matches and drawn the other five. The Bibiani-based team have also conceded just three goals this season, a testament to their defensive solidity.

Frimpong Manso emphasized their determination to maintain their unbeaten run but acknowledged the need for a strong performance against Medeama.

“We aim to keep our unbeaten run intact. Playing 10 games and conceding only three goals shows that we are defensively solid. Against Medeama, we need to step up our game. You cannot underrate certain teams. The fact that they are not scoring or winning doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. Medeama are one of the best teams in the league, so we will respect them, but we will also focus on what we need to do,” he added.

Bibiani Gold Stars currently lead the Ghana Premier League with 20 points, one ahead of second-placed Nations FC. They will need a win against Medeama this Sunday, November 17, 2024, to retain the top spot.
