The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene’s presence at Baba Yara Stadium to support Asante Kotoko was met with resounding cheers from the Kotoko fans, who were clearly excited to see the minister in the stands.

During Kotoko’s match against True Democracy in the MTN FA Cup, the minister arrived at the stadium with his team and security officials, wearing a Kotoko jersey and black trousers, fully geared up to support his team.

As a true Kotoko fan, this gesture won the hearts of the club’s supporters, who were thrilled to see the minister among the prominent personalities backing the club.

The development also renewed discussions about Amoakohene’s active involvement in his jurisdiction and beyond, emphasising his vibrant approach to his work and his participation in various matters.

    About the game

Asante Kotoko maintained their push for a domestic double by defeating Division One side True Democracy in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

In just 12 minutes, Saaka Dauda capitalised on their dominance, slotting home to give the Porcupine Warriors an early lead.

However, True Democracy put up a fight, scoring the equaliser in the 62nd minute.

Youngster Isaac Botchway found the back of the net, levelling matters with just about 30 minutes left on the clock.

As the game became increasingly cagey, with few chances, Kwame Opoku produced a moment of brilliance to restore Asante Kotoko‘s lead and secure the victory with just minutes left on the clock, sending the fans into a frenzy.

It was the striker’s third goal in five games, earning Kotoko their third win in five games and extending their unbeaten run to five games.

The win now puts Asante Kotoko in the semi-finals as head coach Prosper Ogum chases his first FA Cup trophy.
