The Manhyia Palace has postponed the hearing of a case involving Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa following the invocation of the Great Oath of the Asantehene as the battle for the burial date of Daddy Lumba continues.

The decision to defer the hearing stems from a dramatic turn of events during a court session on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, when Ernestina invoked the sacred oath.

A move that immediately transfers jurisdiction from the court to the Manhyia Palace under Asante customary law.

The case, originally filed by Akosua Serwaa, Daddy Lumba’s first wife, seeks to establish who the lawfully wedded spouse of the late musician is.

Following the invocation, the family was summoned to the Manhyia Palace for a special sitting on Monday, November 3, 2025. However, the hearing was later postponed due to a related pending court case awaiting a verdict.

Meanwhile, the Kumasi High Court has dismissed an injunction application filed by Akosua Serwaa to stop the funeral rites of the late musician.

The court ruled that, in line with Asante custom, the authority over Daddy Lumba’s remains rests with his extended family, not an individual spouse.
