Popular Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, well known as LilWin, has stated that footballer Thomas Partey’s rape charges case is among national issues that have overshadowed his imminent movie premiere.
The actor noted that since announcing that his movie, titled “Captain Ibrahim Traore: The Last African Hero,” will be premiered on August 2, 2025, some unfortunate national issues have transpired.
Among them are Thomas Partey’s rape case, Nana Agradaa’s imprisonment, and the demise of legendary musician Daddy Lumba, which have had negative implications on his promotion.
The Kumawood actor asserted that the tragic news about national icons seems to have taken the shine from his movie promotion, which does not augur well for him.
The Kumawood actor indicated that despite the challenges, he is hoping for the best and prays that the premiere becomes a success.
“The is how I have suffered with this movie alone. Despite all the promotions done, a lot of issues, including Agradaa’s case, Partey’s case, Kudus’ issue, why? I have nothing to say; I leave everything to God,” LilWin shared in Twi, as reported by Max TV on X on July 30.
The former Arsenal midfielder was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on July 5, 2025.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the offenses are reported to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
The charges involve three women: two counts of rape related to one woman, three counts of rape in relation to the second woman, and one count of sexual assault in the case of the third woman.
The midfielder is set to go on trial in August 2025.
