The $170 raised through a GoFundMe set up for Kwesi Arthur will be returned to donors, according to Kwaw Kese, who says he has no intention of touching the money.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the rapper addressed the backlash that followed his decision to launch the crowdfunding campaign without Kwesi’s prior knowledge.

Kwaw said the idea was sparked by a social media post in which Kwesi Arthur alleged that his former management was demanding $150,000 from him for the use of his own images. Convinced that the industry and fans could step in, Kwaw believed their combined following could help raise the funds and settle the matter with Ground Up Chale.

Instead, the initiative was publicly rejected. Kwesi distanced himself from the fundraiser and urged supporters to disregard it, saying he had not been informed. Kwaw conceded that the response caught him off guard.

“I set up the gofundme account and if it was a bad thing I wouldn’t even talk about it. I came online and posted the gofundme account and said people should support our brother, pay the money so that Kwesi Arthur can have his freedom,” he said.

He stressed that the campaign was driven purely by concern and denied any ulterior motive.

“I was doing it strictly for Kwesi Arthur and was I was pained that someone could own his images and they want you to pay $150,000 dollars. You are bigger than that amount of money. Let’s do this, pay the guy off so you can be free,” he said.

Th rapper revealed that the fundraiser generated $170 in total. The amount, he noted, remains in the GoFundMe account, with the platform giving him a deadline to either withdraw it or allow refunds.

“The $170 dollars is still in the account. They have given me a deadline to withdraw it or they refund to the donors,” Kwaw Kese divulged.
