2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year, King Promise, is calling on fellow musicians to prioritize unity over unhealthy competition in order to propel the Ghanaian music industry forward.

In a revealing conversation on Daybreak Hitz with hosts Doreen Avio and DJ Slim, the ‘Terminator’ hitmaker expressed concern over the lack of collaboration and the divisive nature of rivalry among artists.

“What we can change as artists is to come together. We can’t take Ghana to the world by moving individually,” King Promise said.

According to him, building a thriving and internationally respected music industry requires teamwork and mutual support among musicians.

He explained that his personal strategy involves frequently engaging with fellow artists and creating opportunities for collaboration rather than isolation.

“One thing I try not to do is move alone. I try to involve and engage my brothers in the industry from time to time,” he stated.

King Promise believes that competition can be healthy when it inspires rather than divides. However, he cautioned against harboring envy or resentment toward the success of others.

“I’m not your enemy. The mindset has to change where if you see your brother going on or doing something, it should inspire you,” he urged.

“Instead of asking, ‘Why him and not me?’ we should be saying, ‘If my brother did this, then I can do it too.’”

He stressed that a shift in mindset among industry players is essential for growth and that Ghanaian music can gain the global recognition it deserves only by pushing as a unit.

King Promise’s remarks have resonated widely within the music community, especially after his big win at the TGMAS, where he clinched the prestigious Artiste of the Year title.

His call for unity arrives at a time when the industry continues to face challenges in competing globally, with many citing a lack of collaboration and internal division as key obstacles.
