Jules Neale has opened up about the intense therapy that made her break down in tears for an hour as she tries to work through her scandalous marriage breakdown with husband Lachie.

The footy WAG has moved back to Perth following the couple’s marriage breakdown, taking their two young children, Piper, four, and Freddie, one, with her.

She and Lachie split last November after she posted to Instagram that the Brisbane Lions star had ‘betrayed [her] in the most unimaginable way’.

Lachie admitted their split was a result of his actions in a press conference in January, after rumours swirled about an affair with Jules’ former friend Tess Crosley.

The footy player did not go into specifics, but admitted the couple had separated.

On Tuesday night, Jules gave her Instagram followers a window into her recovery process as she posted an emotional video.

‘Don’t mind my appearance, I’ve just been crying for an hour straight because I did hypnotherapy,’ she said.

‘It was incredible. I just wanted to share it because I thought, like, if anyone’s dealing with anything emotionally – any kind of trauma or anything that you go to normal talk therapy for, maybe try hypnotherapy as well, because I feel like that did a lot more for me in one session than talk therapy has before.

‘It kind of delves a little bit deeper, I suppose. It was really incredible.’

According to the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia, the practice involves ‘using the state of hypnosis for therapeutical purposes’.

‘Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of concentration with physical and mental relaxation very similar to a daydream,’ the council’s website states.

‘When the Hypnotic state is induced suggestions can be given to make improvements to thinking and behaviour, removing negative ideas to bring about positive changes in a calm relaxing way.’

The Perth-based hypnotherapy centre Jules visits offers services for clients experiencing addiction to alcohol and tobacco, sleep issues, fear and trauma, problems with weight loss, and anxiety.

Jules’s revelation comes hot on the heels of Lachie opening up about their split in detail for the first time last week.

Jules revealed that hypnotherapy has been great for her as she tries to get over the scandalous split, which saw her move to Perth with the two children she shares with Lachie

The Brownlow Medal winner spoke about the ‘crazy’ toll the scandal has taken on him and his loved ones as he revealed his shock at the level of scrutiny he’s been under from the media.

‘When it’s your personal lives and your private matters, you probably don’t think it’s newsworthy,’ he told Triple M radio’s The Rush Hour with Dobbo & Elliott.

‘In a sense, I get it, I’m the captain of a footy club and a public profile in a way, but it felt over the top.

‘It was pretty crazy there for a while, and it’s great to have the footy back on, which has taken over the headlines.’

Neale said the last few months have been ‘challenging’ before claiming there has been a silver lining to the upheaval in his personal life.

‘I think in a way it was a form of therapy to just go and train and look after myself,’ he said.

‘I didn’t really drink at all or anything in that period, I felt like I really had to knuckle down and narrow my focus on my football and being there for my kids when I could.

‘In a weird way, it helped my football.’

Asked about the possibility of him moving clubs to be closer to his kids in Western Australia at the end of the season, he admitted he has ‘got to be real’ about the situation.

‘I’m always thinking about it, and what the future is going to look like,’ he said.

‘It’s in the back of my mind, but I brush it aside, we’re only five weeks into the season, but I think in about three or four months from now, I’ll tap into that.’

The 32-year-old said he will decide whether living so far away from his children is ‘sustainable’, and said he believes he can keep playing until 2029.
