The NFA board at the inauguration

Renowned filmmaker Ivan Quashigah has been appointed Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of the Ghana National Film Authority (GNFA).

The board, which was officially inaugurated in line with the Development and Classification of Film Act (Act 935), marks a renewed push to strengthen Ghana’s film industry.

It is also tasked with regulating, promoting, and supporting the growth of the country’s film sector.

Established in 2016 under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, the NFA has played a pivotal role in film classification, policy development, and industry advocacy.

Ivan Quashigah, the founder and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, brings to the role a wealth of experience spanning decades in film, television, and public health storytelling.

He is best known for creating the widely acclaimed youth series “Things We Do for Love” and “YOLO” (You Only Live Once), which won seven awards at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards and has been lauded for its impact on youth education and health awareness.

A graduate of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), where he studied directing and scriptwriting, Quashigah also holds an Executive Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership from GIMPA.

He has earned over 18 awards both locally and internationally.

Joining him on the board is actress and producer Kafui Danku Pitcher, who has been appointed as Executive Secretary.

Veteran actor Augustine Abbey, popularly known as Idikoko, will serve as the representative of the Film Producers Association of Ghana.
