Popular gospel musician Celestine Donkor has opened up about her personal growth and how she handles trolls on social media.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, the Praise Him hitmaker stated that she has learned to prioritise positivity and avoid responding to negative comments as part of her maturity.
Donkor recalled an incident where she posted a picture of her husband to appreciate a kind gesture from him, only to receive a negative comment from a follower.
“I’ve matured to understand that it’s not everything you need to react to. For example, on a very nice day, my husband did something good for me, and I felt like posting a picture to appreciate him. I shared our picture to motivate him to do more, and then someone commented under the post, ‘Stop disturbing us with this. Yours won’t last either.’
“I studied linguistics in school; I can write, so I was about to reply, but Mr. Donkor wouldn’t approve,” she recounted.
Reflecting on her spiritual growth, Donkor explained that she chooses to focus on the positive energy around her, even if it comes from a small percentage of people, to stay motivated.
“I have this apostolic spirit. I believe people must be told exactly what they need to hear. But I’ve matured to understand that it’s not everything you have to reply to.
“It’s important to focus on those who give you positive vibes. Even if it’s just 1%, that’s enough to keep your power and your flow going. So that’s what I’ve resolved to do,” she said.
