Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, Ernest Norgbey, has backed the dismissal of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, describing the decision as timely following the team’s recent struggles.

The Ghana Football Association parted ways with Addo after a series of underwhelming performances, including back-to-back defeats in international friendlies. The Black Stars suffered a heavy loss to Austria before falling to Germany, results that intensified criticism of the team’s direction under the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, Norgbey questioned the rationale behind the FA’s continued faith in Addo despite inconsistent results. He maintained that the team’s performances offered little justification for retaining the coach.

Norgbey added that the timing of the decision was appropriate, suggesting it provides an opportunity for the FA to reset and chart a new course ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
