Ghanaian actor and football fanatic Don Little has criticised Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew for his underwhelming performance during the team’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the 2025 Unity Cup.
According to him, the skipper’s inability to convert some clear-cut chances that could have leveled the game was disappointing.
However, he noted that the team’s general performance was commendable, especially the new players who got the opportunity to play.
“The match was not good, although the players did well, Ayew cost us because he didn’t play well at all. If you’re a captain and can’t score such a clear chance, then you’re of no use. Ghanaians should feel free say it,” he fumed in a video that has gone viral on X.
The renowned actor went on to question head coach Otto Addo for not substituting Ayew when he was underperforming.
He asserted that the coach fears the Leicester City attacker, hence his reluctance to take him off in matches.
“Is the coach afraid of Ayew? I think he is,” he said in Twi.
This comes after the Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Black Stars in the semi-finals of the 2025 Unity Cup at the GTech Community Stadium on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, advancing to the tournament final.
The Black Stars will now face Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff, while Nigeria advances to meet Jamaica in the final on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the same venue.
