Ransford Gyampo is the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority

The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Prof Ransford Gyampo, has stated that he hopes the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has no bone to pick with the embattled former Minister of Finance, Kenneth Ofori-Atta.

According to Prof Gyampo, if that inclination is a possibility, then it will not augur well for the reputation of Agyebeng.

Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints on June 21, 2025, Prof Gyampo questioned the handling of the case involving the former finance minister, while contributing to discussions on the topic on the OSP’s probe on the minister.

Prof Gyampo’s comment comes after some analysts have suggested that Agyebeng should explore other means to get the required information from Ofori-Atta instead of declaring him wanted.

“I hope the OSP is not motivated by vendetta?” he asked.

It would be recalled that Ofori-Atta’s lawyers offered for him to be interrogated through video conferencing, but the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) rejected the offer on the basis that the former Finance Minister has not been charged yet.

There was another suggestion that the OSP should go to wherever Ofori-Atta is and interrogate him.

This was also rejected on the basis that it would cost the taxpayer money to do so.

Reacting to this development, Prof Gyampo stated that caution must be exercised on the issue which has now become sensitive due to the health condition of the former minister.

“it is important to find out if Mr Ofori-Atta is not sick. Because being sick is not an easy matter,” he stated.

“And the OSP, they have in the past started so dramatically but, in the end, we saw nothing. Look at the Cecilia Dapaah case,” he added.

The OSP is investigating Ofori-Atta in link to five high-profile cases during his tenure under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The main cases for which Ken Ofori-Atta is being investigated for include: Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Assurance, Contractual arrangements between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Electricity Company Contract Termination, National Cathedral Project to mention a few.
