Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr, popularly known as Akwaboah, has recounted how the death of his late father has had an impact on him.
In an interview on Kwaku Manu TV on November 20, 2024, he noted that his father, Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior, used to give him a listening ear after he was done recording a song.
The “Obiaa” hitmaker emphasised that Akwaboah Senior was his source of inspiration and his only best friend.
“My father was the only one I could go to and discuss my issues and songs with. He was the only person who was real to me in the music industry. After I was done recording, he would tell me to add or remove something from it. He used to tell me something when he was alive, and I have understood it better now he is no more.
“I miss him a lot, and I hope he was alive you know since I got married, if there are some questions I would want to ask, Ideally I would have asked my father, but since he is no more, there is no one to ask,” he said.
Akwaboah also noted that he wished his father stayed to witness his wedding ceremony.
“I would have loved my father to see me getting married. If not for anything, at least to come home and see my newly-wedded wife so we eat together. He would be happy that his son had accomplished something he couldn’t. But I know he is still pleased wherever he is now,” he said.
Akwaboah lost his father on May 16, 2023, following a short illness. He was also a Ghanaian singer-songwriter and record producer.
He was known for popular hits such as “Awerekyekyere” which features his son Akwaboah, “Hini Me” and many others.
