Ghanaian gospel musician Nacee has recounted how he defied all odds while battling sickle cell disease from an early age.

In an interview on Hitz FM shared on X on December 6, 2025, Nacee narrated how a doctor once predicted that he would not live beyond age 20.

Recounting his encounter with the doctor, Nacee said, “I think that doctor… the doctor is even dead and gone. I’m not saying God has punished him, but he was old. I think he was over 70. May he rest in peace.

“He was wonderful. He is the one God used to save my life. At that time, almost every week, you could pass out at any moment. It was crazy,” he said.

Nacee added that he never believed the doctor’s words, despite being told that he would not survive past 20 years.

According to him, he was saved in church after responding to an altar call.

He explained that although it was not his first time giving his life to God, something drove him to step forward after listening to the preaching.

He further revealed that after that altar call, he has never fallen sick, and none of his children have been diagnosed with sickle cell disease.

“I was saved by God in the church. My pastor preached, and I remember the title of the message was ‘On The Cross.’ I was behind my keyboard, and after the preaching, he made an altar call. I was sitting behind the keyboard while people were going forward, and I said, ‘If God died on the cross and took all our sicknesses and problems away, why am I still sick?’

“That was the question I kept asking myself while playing behind the keyboard. Before anyone realised, I had gotten up and walked forward… The pastor called the elders, and they all came forward. They poured oil on me and prayed for me. From that day until now, I have never felt sick again,” he added.
