Ghanaian musician AratheJay has narrated how he was nearly arrested at the Kotoka International Airport after a promoter allegedly booked his flight with a fraudulent card.
Speaking in an interview on 3Music on October 30, 2025, the artiste revealed that he was invited to perform at a show outside Ghana, but things took a turn when he got to the airport.
According to AratheJay, he later found out about the fraudulent transaction when the airline staff questioned the legitimacy of his ticket.
“I went for a show and the promoter booked my flight with a fraudulent card. I got to Kotoka and the teller asked me who booked my flight. I got confused, so I asked her what’s going on,” he said.
He recounted that upon arriving at the venue, he confronted the promoter, who pleaded with him to go on stage despite not fulfilling his financial obligations.
“I got to the venue of the show, and we talked to the promoter. The promoter begged me to go on stage, meanwhile he hadn’t settled me. We left Ghana to come there and he didn’t want to fulfil his part of the deal.

“He still wanted me to go on stage while he’s not sorted me out. Now, the fans will be thinking I was the problem or I didn’t want to show up on stage,” he explained.
AratheJay stated that the promoter showed no remorse and failed to apologise for the inconvenience caused.
“How I got to the destination wasn’t his problem. He didn’t care after booking a flight with a fraudulent card. He didn’t apologise for the inconvenience, and the police nearly arrested me at the airport,” he shared.
Following the incident, the artiste disclosed that he decided to name one of the songs on his upcoming album “Only Fans” to reflect the experience.
“With this incident, I decided to name one of the songs on my album `Only Fans’ because these promoters only care about the fans. They want clout, and they like it when they see the crowd,” he added.
