The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has said that he intends to stay in Ghana to enjoy the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, since beginning his career as a sports journalist, he has covered the tournament in 2008, 2010, 2014, and 2022.

However, in his role as NSA boss, he would like to remain in Ghana and experience the atmosphere when the Black Stars play their matches in the World Cup.

“To be honest, in 2026, I want to experience and enjoy the World Cup in Ghana more than traveling outside. This will be the first World Cup that I will not be covering as a journalist since 2006,” he told Sporty FM.

June 2026 will mark exactly 20 years since Ghana’s historic run to the Germany 2006 World Cup finals.

Two decades later, three nations; USA, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the global football festival.

Remarkably, Ampofo Ankrah has covered each of the previous four tournaments that featured the Black Stars of Ghana and their passionate, colorful fans.
