Despite being recognised in the secular music scene, Sista Afia thinks her career could have reached even greater heights if she had pursued gospel music.

In a recent interview with Top FM, the Ghanaian singer revealed that a gospel path might have brought her more success, but she feels content with her current direction, confident that God has placed her exactly where she is meant to be.

Sista Afia’s musical journey began in the church. As a child, she sang gospel songs and even recorded a full gospel album at just ten years old.

The ‘Jeje’ singer credited Pastor Papa Sly of Kingdom Light Ministry in Kumasi for nurturing her early talent.

“Papa Sly saw potential in me when I sang in his church. He decided to take me to a recording studio, and together we worked on a seven-track gospel album titled Jesus Christ,” she said.

While the album was never released, she confirmed that copies are still kept in her mother’s house.

“If I was doing gospel, I would have been more successful by now. But I feel like with what I’m doing now, I’m still everywhere. It’s God who has placed us where we are. I was a gospel musician way back when I was a kid. I had a gospel album at the age of ten years. The album is in my mother’s house and the title is Jesus Christ,” Sista Afia stated.
