The Black Damsels popularly known as the Black Damsels, have been rewarded with a prize money of $300,000 after successfully defending their title at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The Ghana U-15 Girls secured the trophy after a dramatic 10-9 penalty shootout victory over Burkina Faso, following a goalless draw in regulation time. Their triumph not only brought continental glory but also a significant financial reward.

The victory marks back-to-back titles for the Black Damsels, having also won the previous edition in Accra against Uganda. It also served as sweet revenge after earlier defeats to Burkina Faso in both the WAFU B qualifiers and the group stage of the tournament.

Sandra Boakye’s side impressed throughout the competition, recording dominant wins over Guinea (6-0) and Tanzania (2-1), before suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso in their final group game.

They booked their place in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia in the semi-final, courtesy of Blessing Tetteh’s decisive strike.

The $300,000 prize highlights the growing investment in youth and women’s football on the continent, as the Black Damsels continue to showcase Ghana’s strength at the grassroots level.
