Accra Hearts of Oak and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have formally reported what they describe as false and malicious allegations involving goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to the Ghana Police Service.

In a statement issued on March 28, 2026, Hearts of Oak dismissed the claims as “entirely false, misleading and defamatory,” assuring supporters that Asare, who is currently with the Black Stars, is in good condition and unaffected by the reports.

GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo said the Association responded swiftly after the content surfaced online. In a Facebook post, he noted that the GFA engaged the police “within minutes” of encountering what he termed a “heartless, hurtful and malicious fake post.”

Both the GFA and Hearts of Oak have confirmed that the matter is under active police investigation, with authorities working to identify and prosecute those responsible for creating and spreading the content.

Mr Addo added that the ongoing investigation does not preclude any further legal action by Asare, including possible civil proceedings.

Neither institution has disclosed details of the allegations, emphasizing their focus on protecting the player’s reputation.
