Filmmaker and content creator, Jeffery Nortey, has shared what he believes to be a negative trend in the Ghanaian skit-making industry.

In a discussion on GhanaWeb‘s X Space on August 29, 2025, with hosts Joseph Henry Mensah and Isaac Dadzie, Jeffery Nortey noted that Ghanaians only support content creators out of sheer pity.

He explained that Ghanaians tend to support content creators who appear to be struggling financially.

“A lot of people like to watch from the angle of poverty. There is this pitness in it, so they like to watch your content more,” he said.

He added that once Ghanaians discover that a skitmaker is finally doing much better financially, they begin to lose interest in their content.

According to him, such an attitude makes it difficult for content creators to disclose their achievements in the comedy industry.

“Immediately, to make them know you have made it, they will be like they don’t want to watch your content, so you get money. I have met people who will tell me that they are the ones giving me money on YouTube. So they like to watch videos from Facebook,” he added.

Meanwhile, Big Ghun, together with Jeffery Nortey, are set to premiere their collaborative film, ‘Vibes the Movie’, on October 4, 2025, at the Silverbird Cinema, Accra Mall.

The film will feature several notable personalities, including Aaron Adatsi, Clemento Suarez, Krymi, and others.
