The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced that Ghana is set to host TikTok for an official creators’ training programme.

He made this announcement in an address with media personnel on September 29, 2025, where he stated that Ghana will become the first African nation to host the event, which is scheduled for October 12, 2025.

“There is nowhere on the African continent where a government has facilitated for TikTok to come and meet with their content creators, to explain to them and give them the full utility of the platform,” he said.

According to Sam George, the programme is designed to equip local content creators with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively leverage the popular social media platform, enhancing both their reach and monetisation opportunities.

Addressing potential critics directly, Sam George gave a firm defence of the government’s efforts.

“Someone may say ‘aban papa aba’ but I will only say the government is working,” he stated.
