Bibiani Gold Stars’ debut campaign in the CAF Champions League ended in disappointment after they suffered a 5-0 loss to Algerian giants JS Kabylie in Tizi Ouzou on Sunday, September 28, 2025, sealing a 7-0 aggregate exit from the preliminary round.

The Ghana Premier League champions, already trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Accra, faced an uphill task but endured a nightmare start when goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi turned the ball into his own net after just seven minutes.

Kabylie quickly took control of the contest, with Ryad Boudebouz doubling the lead in the 29th minute. Mehdi Merghem added a third midway through the second half before Gold Stars’ hopes collapsed completely. Defender Emmanuel Ankrah was shown a red card on the hour mark, and the hosts ruthlessly exploited the numerical advantage.

Lahlou Akhrib struck four minutes later, and Oualid Maliki completed the rout with a stoppage-time effort to send Kabylie through in emphatic style.

Gold Stars’ continental adventure ends at the first hurdle, and they must now regroup and focus on defending their Ghana Premier League crown.
