Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has said that he is open to André Dede Ayew being called to join the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He stated that since Ayew has been playing consistently and achieving appreciable numbers in terms of goal contributions, it would not be out of place.

Acheampong lauded Ayew’s commitment to the Black Stars since he joined from the junior national teams, honoring call-ups in both good and bad times.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Acheampong noted that Ayew’s recent performances for French side Le Havre could earn him a call-up if head coach Otto Addo deems it worthy.

“Ayew is one of the Black Stars‘ most committed players. If he is playing top-level football in France and the coach needs him, why not? He has always shown commitment whenever given the opportunity,” he said.

The 35-year-old has been in top form for his club side, emerging as Ghana’s top scorer in the French league after scoring four goals in seventeen matches.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the World Cup qualifiers, leaving Ayew’s future with the team uncertain.

The Black Stars will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Chad in March 2026.
