The mother of Ghanaian musician Fantana and MP for the Jomoro constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has returned to Ghana from the United States after recovering from a near-fatal accident in August 2024.
Following the accident, she was flown to the U.S. for further treatment and recovery.
On October 24, 2024, videos on social media captured her return to Ghana, where she received a warm welcome at the airport.
Family, friends, and well-wishers greeted her with placards reading, “Jomoro needs you alive.”
In high spirits, Dorcas Affo-Toffey was seen hugging her supporters and exchanging pleasantries.
The accident
The incident occurred on August 29, 2024, at the Komenda junction on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway when Ms. Affo-Toffey was returning to Accra from campaign activities in Half Assini.
A heavy truck attempting to overtake her vehicle caused a collision.
She and the other occupants of her vehicle were rushed to the hospital but are now in stable condition.
Deeply affected by the incident, Fantana during the incident, expressed her relief and gratitude on Instagram, posting, “Mom, I thank God for your life. I love you.”
Mrs. Affo-Toffey also shared her appreciation on social media, thanking God and everyone who supported her during this ordeal: “THANK YOU JESUS! I am profoundly thankful to the Almighty God for sparing my life in what could have been a devastating tragedy. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone for your prayers and well-wishes during this challenging time.”
