Michael Essien has identified Mohammed Kudus as the standout player in Ghana’s current national team, expressing optimism about the Black Stars’ prospects ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Essien, now part of the coaching staff at FC Nordsjælland, highlighted the impact of the Right to Dream Academy in nurturing top talents. He noted that players such as Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah and Ibrahim Osman are products of the system and are expected to play key roles on the global stage.
The former Chelsea midfielder praised Kudus’ growing influence, describing him as central to Ghana’s ambitions, while urging support for his continued development. He also commended Sulemana’s pace and attacking qualities, encouraging him to play with confidence.
Essien further pointed to emerging talents like Caleb Yirenkyi as future prospects.
Ghana will face England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team at the tournament.
