Frank “The Ghost” Martin took out Rances Barthelemy in the fourth round of their super lightweight bout. Martin was boxing beautifully controlling the first three rounds when he dropped Barthelemy in the fourth. Moments later, Martin unloaded a beautiful left hand straight to the tip of the chin of Barthelemy, dropping him in a heap. Referee James Green began to count and then immediately waved it off, realizing Barthelemy was out cold. Martin improves to 19-1, 13 KOs, while the former two-time champ falls to 30-4-1, 15 KOs.
Isaac Lucero dismantled Roberto Valenzuela Jr. over 8 eight hard-fought rounds at Jr. middleweight. Valenzuela Jr. went down in the first round courtesy of a dubious punch to the back of the head. Lucero did his best to remain in charge throughout, while Valenzuela tried to remain in the fight. An unanswered onslaught of punches late in the eighth prompted referee Mark Nelson to step in and stop about as Valenzuela had reeled to the ropes just as the bell ended the round! Lucero moves to 18-0, 14 KOs. Valenzuela Jr. falls to 31-6-29 KOs.
In the opening bout of the night, Luis Reynaldo Nunez defeated Hector Andres Sosa by unanimous decision In their 10-round featherweight bout. Each man took their turns during the fight, taking charge and forcing their will. Nuñez did just a bit more to take the unanimous decision by scores of 98-92, 97-93, 96-94. Nuñez is now 22-0, 14 KOs while Sosa falls to 18-4, 9 KOs.
