The Accra High Court has adjourned its proceedings to 10 a.m. December 12, 2025, to deliver a ruling on the legal battle over who holds the authority to organise the funeral of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

The case centres on a suit filed by five maternal relatives seeking to block the release of Daddy Lumba’s body and freeze access to the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation account without their authorisation.

Speaking to the press after the court proceedings, a lawyer for the relatives stated that they are ready to “wait and abide by the decision of the court.”

Confusion rocks Daddy Lumba‘s funeral date after Manhyia meeting

    What is the case about?

The relatives, Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso, Robert Gyamfi (Wofa Yaw Poku Asuafua), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosuh, and Nana Afia Kobi Pakoso, want the court to restrict funeral arrangements and control of memorial funds pending a final determination.

The defendants in the matter are Kofi Owusu Abuakwa, CAL Bank Ghana and Transitions Funeral Home in Accra.

The plaintiffs have asked the court to compel the funeral home to retain custody of the late musician’s remains and prevent the bank from processing transactions linked to the memorial account without their consent.
