University of North Carolina star Kaleb Cost wasn’t the only one to suffer from his injury during Saturday’s game.

The Tar Heels and Bill Belichick enjoyed a milestone victory at the weekend, upsetting No. 25 Pittsburgh 21-17 for their first win over a ranked team since the coach took charge last year.

However, the win wasn’t without its troubles as defensive back Cost exited the game after a terrifying injury.

Early in the first quarter, Cost defended a pass from Pittsburgh quarterback Holden Geriner toward the end zone.

But as he forced the incompletion, Cost careened into the concrete wall behind the end zone, visibly ricocheting off it.

The defensive star lay on the ground in clear pain and took off his helmet in distress before being able to walk off the field under his own power.

The defensive back was left frustrated after he suffered an injury crashing into a wall

Bill Belichick’s University of North Carolina defeated No. 25 Pittsburgh 21-17 on Saturday

However, the defensive back was left clearly frustrated by the injury blow and lashed out in anger.

He launched his helmet at the turf before it bounced off the ground and flew into the stands, hitting a female fan in the front row, according to Noah Weiskopf.

Medical staff were later seen checking on the woman before helping her out of her seat and away from the stands.

Meanwhile, Cost, who is in his senior year, was ruled out for the remainder of the game following his collision with the wall.

Cost has made 41 appearances for UNC since joining in 2023. He’s recorded 91 solo tackles and assisted on an additional 38. He has also registered three interceptions and 14 passes defensed.

Even without Cost, the Tar Heels managed to pull off a shock upset over the previously undefeated Pittsburgh.

It marked the first time Belichick’s Tar Heels have beaten a ranked opponent since he joined the program last year.

It was a significant improvement for the UNC program, which is 3-2 this year after going 4-8 last year.

‘Gutsy performance. Kept battling against a good football team,’ Belichick said after the game on ESPN. ‘We just kept hanging in there. We made a couple big plays, and they made a couple too. They’re a good football team.’
