Ghanaian gospel musician Broda Sammy has disclosed that his focus on worship songs has limited the types of events he is invited to perform at.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on November 10, 2025, the gospel artiste stated that although his worship songs are well-received, they are not suitable for festive events like birthday parties and weddings.
“I’ve done a lot of worship songs, but I don’t have danceable songs, so I hardly get invited for birthday parties, shows, and other events where such songs would be used,” he said.
According to him, the type of songs artistes produce determines the kind of shows they are invited to.
“Every song has the type of shows you get invited to. When you do worship songs, only pastors will invite you. When you make music people can dance to, you will get invited to weddings, parties, and some other events,” he shared.
Christians should dress fashionably to attract ‘non-believers’ to church – Broda Sammy
Broda Sammy noted that he now intends to diversify his music by creating more upbeat and danceable gospel tracks to broaden his reach.
“I’ve decided to start making danceable songs. I’m a musician and I don’t have a lane, so I should be able to make any song I want. You have to be dynamic as an artiste,” he said.
He further mentioned that even veteran musicians like the late Daddy Lumba do not limit themselves to one style of music.
“Even Daddy Lumba doesn’t have a lane. When it comes to funerals, weddings, and love-making, you can jam to his music,” he added.
