Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo beleives the team has a chance to achieve something big at the 2026 World Cup.

The four-time African champions secured their fifth qualification after finishing at the top of Group I with 25 points.

Having played in the quarterfinals in 2010 in South Africa, Ghana has failed to progress from the group phase in 2014 and 2022 in Brazil and Qatar, respectively.

After bouncing back after failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, Sibo believes the story will be different this time after their qualification to the global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“This team can really achieve big in the World Cup,” Sibo told JoySports.

“The [players] I’ve trained with are doing well at their various clubs in Europe.

“This team is more united, and when a team is united, it’s really hard to beat. We’re all together, making jokes, and that makes a team really strong,” he added.

Having featured against Mali, Sibo has become a key player for the Black Stars and featured in the last two games against Central African Republic and Comoros.

The Real Oviedo midfielder is expected to make Black Stars’ final squad for the tournament but will hope to feature in November’s Asian tour against Japan and South Korea as part of preparations for next year’s World Cup.
