Dutch international of Ghanaian descent Memphis Depay has emerged as a top transfer target for Turkish outfit Besiktas, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

Depay, 30, signed a two-year deal with Brazil powerhouse Corinthians in September 2024 after leaving Atletico Madrid, a move some saw as unexpected for a player of his calibre.

Establishing himself as a key cog at the club, Depay won his first prize with Corinthians in March after his outfit triumphed over arch-rivals Palmeiras to lift the Campeonato Paulista

Despite his success story with Corinthians, the relationship between both parties could end on a sour note due to unpaid entitlements.

Amidst mounting financial troubles, Corinthians owe Depay around €1.7 million in bonuses and are also due to pay the second installment of his signing bonus of €1 million by September 15.

Whiles the Brazil powerhouse seeks to negotiate a payment delay, the Dutch-Ghanaian attacker is reportedly considering an early contract termination.

However, the Turkish outfit has expressed firm interest to secure the services of the former Manchester United and Barcelona star in the current window.

As reported earlier by GHANAsoccernet.com, the former Barcelona star formally notified Corinthians over the unpaid debt and threatened not to fulfil his professional obligations if the situation is not resolved.

However, the Brazil outfit allegedly ignored Depay’s initial request back in May under then President of the club, Augusto Melo.

As a sign of protest and dissatisfaction with the club’s failure to settle his debt, the Dutch-Ghanaian star boycotted training back in July, sparking speculation about the future of the former Manchester United attacker at the club.
