Former Hearts of Oak defender Daniel Quaye has called on the players to be fully prepared ahead of their game against Asante Kotoko on Sunday, December 15, 2024, if they are to secure any points from the match.

The much-anticipated clash which comes off at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi at 3pm, will see two of the biggest Ghana Premier League teams go head-to-head for three points and bragging rights. In an interview with Happy FM, Dan Quaye urged the Hearts players to focus and prepare thoroughly for the encounter.

“There are lots of issues that can mess up your concentration, so for such games, you need to stay indoors and focus on the game,” he said.

“As a player, your focus and concentration should be high because whoever wins the game will hold the bragging rights in the country. You need to prepare physically and mentally.”

While acknowledging the lack of experience in the current Hearts of Oak team, Quaye believes the Phobians can carry the day if they adhere to what they have practised in training.

“They have to follow the coach’s tactics and whatever they’ve learned during training prior to the game,” he stated.

“Experience will matter, but everything depends on them. They need to understand the big history behind this fixture and show up in these big games.”

Hearts of Oak are currently sixth in the Ghana Premier League standings with 19 points, and a win on Sunday could move them to within just one point of first place.
