Dr. Charity Binka urges New Times Corporation staff to stay focused, united, and disciplined in pursuing institutional renewal. She emphasizes professionalism, resilience, and faith in God as NTC enters a new chapter of renewal and growth.
The Deputy Chairman of the Interim Management Committee and Board Member of the New Times Corporation (NTC), Dr. Charity Binka, has urged staff to remain focused and united as the corporation pursues renewal and institutional strengthening.
She said the transition requires “collective commitment, discipline and professionalism,” adding that every staff member has a role to play in restoring confidence and improving performance.
Dr. Binka made the remarks at the corporation’s beginning-of-the-year thanksgiving service held at its headquarters in Accra yesterday.
She noted that regardless of religious background — whether Christian, Muslim or otherwise — there is a shared belief in God, who remains the ultimate source of strength and guidance.
“Placing God at the centre of the corporation’s affairs will inspire integrity, responsibility and excellence in service,” she said.
According to Dr. Binka, The Ghanaian Times brand continues to command respect and trust, with many regarding it as a benchmark in journalism. She encouraged staff to have confidence in themselves, stressing that public faith in the newspaper remains unwavering.
Reflecting on her long association with NTC since the 1980s, she expressed optimism that the corporation will continue to thrive for many years, describing the current period as one of renewal and growth — a chapter that will be remembered as a turning point in NTC’s history.
Quoting Jeremiah 29:11, she said hope should never be lost as long as there is life, adding that the future of the corporation is not closed. She also voiced confidence that the coming year will bring a positive and transformative story for NTC.
Dr. Binka paid tribute to staff who have remained committed over the years, describing their resilience as the backbone of the organisation. She further expressed gratitude to partners and stakeholders for their continued trust and support, acknowledging them as vital to the corporation’s survival.
She also called on staff to “work collaboratively, break silos and share ideas freely in pursuit of a common vision,” emphasizing that the growth and sustainability of NTC depend on leadership, ownership and collective effort.
Delivering the sermon, Head Pastor of Word Divine International Ministry, Reverend John Akorli, described Christianity as a personal relationship with God, adding that “being a child of God comes with forgiveness and a new identity.”
He said a person’s past should not define their present or future, explaining that understanding one’s identity in Christ diminishes the power of challenging backgrounds in shaping destiny.
Rev. Akorli urged staff to walk confidently, deepen their prayer life, and be mindful of personal disclosures, describing discretion as wisdom.
He further encouraged them to cultivate a savings habit, uphold professionalism and accountability, and demonstrate diligence, noting that these practices contribute to both personal and organisational growth.
