In a heartfelt message to the youth, media personality Serwaa Amihere has urged young people to exercise extreme caution when making decisions, particularly during their university years.

Speaking at the Ignite Youth Empowerment Thanksgiving Service organized by Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Serwaa shared a personal lesson she learned from a challenging experience.

“You need to be extremely careful of the choices you make today,” she began. “I was going to tell you this last year, and I didn’t. But I would be doing you a great disservice if I don’t say it this year.

“So let me repeat it: there are so many young ones here. Many of you are in university. So please, be extremely careful and selective about the decisions you make while you’re young. I’m not old; I’m still young, but I’m older than many of you here.

“And I am repeating again, be extremely careful about the decisions you make because six, seven, five, three, or even two years later, they can come back to bite you really hard. And that is what happened to me last year,” she said.

Her comments came in the wake of a controversy surrounding a video of Serwaa that surfaced online in April 2024.

The sexually explicit footage, which showed her in bed with a man identified as Henry Fitz, sparked widespread online speculation.

The backlash was swift, with many condemning the media figure for her actions. Some questioned why someone of her status would allow such a video to be recorded.

In a statement posted on her X account on April 24, 2024, Serwaa apologized for the embarrassment caused to her family, employers, and the businesses she represents.

She confirmed that the video was recorded five years ago and admitted to underestimating the long-term consequences of her actions at the time.

“The video went public after five months of threats and extortion, despite efforts by the police to bring the extortionists to justice,” she revealed.

Through her public message, Serwaa hopes to use her personal experience as a cautionary tale, urging young people to consider the long-term impact of their decisions carefully.
