Abu Baba Sadiq, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, has lost the parliamentary seat following a re-declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Initially, Baba Sadiq was declared the winner of the Okaikwei Central seat during the 2024 general elections, defeating the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, the EC later nullified the initial declaration due to discrepancies and ordered a re-collation of results from all 141 polling stations, including 31 outstanding stations, as mandated by a court order.

After the re-collation, the Deputy Returning Officer for Okaikwei Central, Harrison Kwabena Agyapa, announced that Patrick Yaw Boamah secured 21,099 votes, while Baba Sadiq received 19,368 votes, resulting in Boamah retaining his seat.

However this decision was later overturned by the Supreme Court after the National Democratic Congress filed a notice to appeal the decision of the high court which sat on the matter earlier.

Well, after another re-collation today, December 6, 2024, the EC has confirmed the NPP’s Patrick Yaw Boamah as MP-elect of the constituency.

What this means is that the former CEO of 3 Music TV will no longer make it to parliament.
