The Supreme Court of Ghana has today, Friday, December 27, 2024, overturned a High Court ruling that ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate and re-declare the parliamentary election results of four constituencies initially won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This decision comes after the Supreme Court reviewed an application filed by the NDC, challenging the EC’s re-collation and re-declaration of results for nine constituencies under contention.

The NDC had sought to nullify the High Court’s directive, which required the EC to re-collate and re-declare results for Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Obuasi East.

Additionally, the NDC contested the court’s order mandating the continuation of the collation process for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Anafo Ano North constituencies.

However, the supreme court maintained that for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Anafo Ano North constituencies, the recollected results stay.

With the Supreme Court’s decision, NDC parliamentary candidates Baba Sadiq and Ebi Bright, who are both in entertainment space likely hold the chance to be in Ghana’s ninth Parliament come January 6, 2025.

Unlike there is a new development come Tuesday, December 31, 2024, these members of Parliament elect for the Okaikwei Central, and Tema Central constituencies might get to serve their constituents.
