Diamond Michelle, popularly known as Michy, has raised concerns about the growing number of able-bodied men begging on the streets of Accra.
In a social media post, the popular businesswoman cum ex-fiancée of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, expressed her confusion and frustration over the trend.
“We need to talk. There’s a surge of able-bodied young men begging on our streets. Not disabled. Not elderly. Young and strong,” she wrote.
She noted that while some of these men perform stunts for fancy cars, the reality is that they are consistently asking for money.
“Yes, those that do ‘fans for fancy cars’ performances. But let’s be honest, all be format. The reality is they’re asking for money every day,” she added.
Michy explained that, out of curiosity, she asked some of the men why they beg. Their response was simple: no jobs.

Yet, she pointed out that businesses are openly hiring cleaners, security guards, waiters, receptionists, and other entry-level workers.
“So, what is really going on? Is begging now more attractive than working?” she questioned.
