Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has adopted a new name while serving her prison term at Nsawam, her husband Angel Asiamah has told worshippers. He says she now identifies herself as Evangelist Josephine Asiamah, a name she believes reflects a fresh spiritual path.

Speaking to the congregation of Heaven’s Way Church on November 22, 2025, Angel Asiamah described the name change as a symbol of transformation. He indicated that their conversation about her decision initially left him puzzled, but he eventually connected it to the biblical Joseph, known for interpreting dreams during his time behind bars.

“My wife told me that over there in prison, her name has been changed, so the name she responds to now is Evangelist Josephine Asiamah, also known as Mama Pat. That is a new name, so it should tell you things are new in her life. Anyone who changes their name takes on a new life.

“When I came home that evening, I wondered why she would change her name to Josephine, and I remembered it could be because she is doing the works of Joseph in prison, spreading the word of God and interpreting dreams for inmates,” he said.

He also addressed speculation about her physical appearance, saying reports that her complexion had shifted significantly were misleading. He explained that any change was simply the result of moving from a life of constant comfort to harsher surroundings.

“Some people were claiming she had become dark. All Black people are dark, so if she looks dark, is it news? Sometimes good living can change your complexion. She lived in comfort, staying in air-conditioned rooms 24 hours a day. But she is an African and is now living in difficult conditions, so there’s nothing wrong with her looking dark,” Asiamah stated.

Agradaa received a fifteen-year sentence with hard labour after her conviction on fraud charges by an Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025. She continues to serve her term at the Nsawam Female Prison in the Eastern Region.
