Hearts of Oak striker, Asamoah Boateng

Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, has thrown his weight behind striker Asamoah Boateng Afriyie following a difficult start to life at the club.

The 27-year-old forward, who achieved double figures with Nations FC last term, has yet to score or register an assist in seven Ghana Premier League games after joining the Phobians in the summer transfer window.

Despite his goal-scoring drought, Opare Addo has expressed satisfaction with the contribution of the striker while tipping him to rediscover his scoring form.

“Last season, he scored 12-15 goals for Nations FC, but we are not judging him solely on goal scoring. We should look at his contribution and impact on the team. If he is not scoring and his contribution is helping the progress of the team, we are happy.

“Despite providing support for the team to move forward, we are sure the goals will come. We only need to encourage him,” he said.

The forward is expected to be involved when his team takes on Medeama in matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League at the TnA Stadium.

Hearts of Oak are currently 11th in the Ghana Premier League standings, accumulating just 9 points from a possible 24.
