Donald Trump eviscerated comedian Bill Maher in a 1,300 word post to his Truth Social just days after welcoming him to the White House in what the president described as a ‘good’ time.

In a post on Sunday night, the commander in chief branded the comedian a ‘complete and total loser’ after the two had dinner this month in the White House and just days after Maher welcome former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on his HBO show.

He said: ‘Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher. He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO.’

The president then went on to mention his own work on the show The Apprentice and claimed that Maher begged him to appear on his own show.

He said: ‘When I became President, I agreed to meet, after the first one, and the last one, but never agreed to do his show, which he wants me to do, DESPARATELY — It won’t happen!

‘When I have watched the show, which isn’t often, it always ends with dishonesty, about me at least, but, who cares?’

Trump continued: ‘Using Fake Polls, he also said I had my Lowest Ratings so far, “and even the Republican Party doesn’t like him,” but that’s not true.

‘I have High Ratings and, more importantly, he said that I’m losing the support and approval of the Republican Party when, in fact, CNN just came out with a Poll showing that I’m at 98 and 99% support within the Republican Party, an All Time Record High.

‘Bill Maher lied, but he lies about everything, and I believe he lied to me when I asked him, with all the applause and laughter he gets after almost everything he says, about things that aren’t funny or even any good, what Laughter Machine does he use? People can’t think he’s funny. I didn’t know Bill, he didn’t know me, and that was OK.’

Speaking of the dinner, which was attended by Kid Rock and ESPN star Stephen A Smith, Trump continued: ‘Overall, I thought it was a good meeting. It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy.

‘After the first dinner, Bill Maher was friendly, I guess, everyone walked away pleased. He gave me a good first show, with lots of Laughing Machine laughter, which is a real term, but it is what it is, and then reverted back to his former self, and his old ways.

‘I understand that. He’s doing his thing. I never took it very personally. I would always mock his Low Ratings, whenever I heard.

‘He’s not a nice guy, and what he spouts isn’t what he believes. He has to cater to his base, which is mostly composed of Losers, and people who don’t like working.’

Speaking of Maher’s first trip to the White House for dinner back in April of last year, Trump said: ‘He invited himself to the White House! We had our first meeting, Bill was very nervous.

‘He asked for a drink. He was very insecure, and he had a seriously bruised eye and nose area, as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn’t me!’

Over the weekend,  Maher clapped back at critics for the dinner saying: ‘Yeah I did it again b******’, referring to his first dinner in April of 2025.

Doubling down on it, he said on his show: ‘You know what? F*** you. I like these dinners.’

Former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had appeared on his show, with Trump praising her in his post as being ‘great’

In an opening monologue on his show this weekend, Maher said: ‘Trump has the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever.

‘Only 1 percent of the Republicans are mentioning him in their ads. It’s gotten really bad.’

Speaking of the dinner, he said: ‘There is just something thrilling about being announced when you’re in the White House, when you’re outside the Oval Office, and you hear the aide say, “Sir, your 7 o’clock low-ratings dummy is here”.’

He continued: ‘I mean, we talked about a lot of things. The Supreme Court, ICE shootings, abandoning the Afghans who helped us during the war, Hegseth is dragging you down, sir.

‘When you say ‘Obama is not a centrist,’ your racism is showing. Please don’t name the ocean after yourself. What else, losing the 2020 election. I was at the Reflecting Pool that day, it looked like s***.’

Former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had appeared on the show, with Trump praising her in his post as being ‘great’ while branding Maher a ‘dumb sleazebag’.

Trump added: ‘There were so many other falsehoods Bill spewed, but I won’t waste time in FACT CHECKING him. He isn’t worth it. Bill: Don’t call anymore.

‘You’re also a coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running because of your few “fans,” and how badly the Dumocrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A.

‘If I hadn’t won the Election, it would be DEAD! Also, turn your Laugh Machine off, it’s a joke when they laugh uncontrollably, even when you say nothing funny, and I’m going to have the Republicans not cover you anymore, because they try to talk about you as a guy who is transformative.

‘You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser! I never watched your show much, but I will never watch it again, because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS that America, and the World, is unfortunately subjected to.’

Leavitt told him on the show: ‘The president sends his regards. I told him I was coming on the show and he said, “Tell him he loved that dinner and he knows it”.’

Maher added: ‘I do like it,’ before he had a back and forth with the young mother of two over her time in the White House.

At one point he said: ‘You know what? This is the one thing that people get mad at me [about]…I don’t give a s*** about any of this.

‘I like the ballroom! America does need a ballroom. It’s the United States of America.’

Maher also told Leavitt that Trump was ‘far more sane than the last [president]’, adding: ‘He’s far more energetic’.

The post from the president comes just a few days after Trump told reporters: ‘The dinner last night with Kid Rock and Stephen A. [Smith] and Bill Maher was great. I think they had a good time. We talked about everything. It lasted a long time.’

Maher said Trump was ‘gracious and measured’ in what he described as a positive meeting with the president back in March of 2025.

Maher has always attacked Trump on his HBO show dating back over a decade, when the two were involved in a lawsuit over Maher claiming the president’s father was an orangutan.
