NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DCE

The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DCE, has announced his intention to petition President John Dramani Mahama over alleged threats made against his life.

Speaking on the Friday, October 10, 2025, edition of his Evidence Show on YouTube, Abronye said he would formally remind the President of his constitutional duty to ensure his safety as a citizen, following the alleged threats linked to his program.

“Tonight, I am serving notice to President Mahama, who is in charge of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Chairman of the National Security Council, that the alleged threats of death and elimination on my life, I will officially put it on paper and submit it to him.

“It is President Mahama’s duty to protect my life because this is a threat against me arising from this program,” he stated.

Abronye’s comments follow a series of arrests and legal encounters with state security agencies.

Abronye DC rearrested, granted GH¢1 million bail

On September 8, 2025, he was arrested by the Ghana Police Service for “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace” after a video surfaced of him criticising IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno and alleging political bias in police recruitment processes.

He was remanded twice by an Accra Circuit Court, on September 9 and 12, 2025, and was initially denied bail due to ongoing investigations.

He was later granted bail of GH¢50,000 on September 22.

Abronye DC to drag CID officer to UN

Subsequently, on October 8, 2025, Abronye was rearrested and detained for nine hours on charges of publication of false news with intent to incite fear and panic.

He was released later that day after being granted GH¢1 million bail with two sureties.
