Gospel musician Rose Adjei has revealed that some producers discouraged her early in her career, telling her that her songs were “trash.”

Although she did not name the individuals, she recounted one particular instance in which a producer advised her to discard her song “Agya W’ahwe Me So”, calling it a terrible song with a horrible video.

Speaking with Sokoohemaa Kukua on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Adjei said such comments broke her spirit and made her question their sincerity.

“When I started making music, I went to some producers, and many of them discouraged me,” she said.

“One producer told me that Agya W’ahwe Me So was trash and that I should dump it.

“He also said the video for the song was horrible, then offered to help me break through. After I left, I called my husband and asked why he hadn’t told me my song was trash.

“I then called a pastor friend who told me to ignore the producer and go get some fufu and light soup because God would certainly make a way.”

After the song was released and became popular, the same producer who had criticised it reportedly sent her a message saying, “I knew you were going to make it.”

Rose Adjei stressed that life is a process, and to succeed, one must focus on God, who is the author and finisher of faith.

She concluded by saying that when you refuse to give up and eventually succeed, the same people who once doubted you will stand beside you and claim they always knew you would make it.
