Sports minister, Kofi Adams Sports minister, Kofi Adams

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that plans are underway to enhance electronic ticketing at various stadia to increase revenue generation.

According to him, the manual system has allowed some individuals to exploit loopholes by selling tickets and keeping portions of the proceeds instead of remitting them to the state.

He indicated that once e-ticketing is fully implemented, there will be stricter measures to ensure proper accountability by those in charge.

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing on November 4, 2025, Adams said, “There are a number of steps we are introducing. And when we improve networking—which we haven’t completely done yet, ticketing at our stadia during game time will no longer be 100% manual. Right now, someone can enter and, before you know it, people are printing fake tickets and selling them instead of the official ones.

“So you see the numbers at the stadium, but when it comes to accounting for the money, less is presented. We want to implement e-ticketing to bring about a lot more transparency.”

The Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency added that they will strictly supervise the accounts and ensure that funds are utilised appropriately.

“Beyond that, when the money gets into the coffers, its use must follow standard accounting procedures and the financial regulations act that exists in this country. You can’t just take and spend it anyhow, especially when the threshold is significantly high,” he added.
