MzGee has strongly defended her decision to have a child outside of marriage. She emphasized that no one has the authority to dictate how she lives.

Speaking on her Gee O’Clock show, the media personality opened up about the pressure society places on women, particularly around marriage and motherhood.

“As a young lady growing up, the prayer was always to get married, have children, and live happily ever after. But life had a different plan for me,” she said.

Following her divorce, MzGee recalled being constantly reminded about her “ticking biological clock.” Friends, relatives, and even strangers encouraged her to remarry quickly and have children before it was “too late.”

By 38, she was still unmarried. Faced with the choice of waiting or taking control of her own future, she chose the latter. On January 13, 2025, she announced the birth of her son. Instead of widespread congratulations, her decision attracted harsh criticism from some who accused her of “going against God’s order.”

Responding directly, she fired back: “Who made you God over us? Why do you use God to judge women like me? God is merciful, not you. I will thank God for my child any day.”

MzGee further condemned the double standards women face when having children outside marriage, pointing out that men in the same position are rarely judged.

“When men have children outside wedlock, society looks away. But when women do it, suddenly everyone becomes a judge. Even women join the chorus against us. We are tired,” she said.

MzGee urged compassion over criticism, especially toward women who are divorced or still waiting for marriage despite their hopes.

“If you know what divorce feels like, or what it means to wait endlessly for marriage that never comes, you will not cast stones. Don’t shame us, pray for us. At my age, I know what I am doing. This is my life and my choice,” she added.
