Media personality MzGee has hit back at critics who questioned her decision to have a child outside marriage, stressing that no one has the right to judge her life choices.

Speaking on her Gee O’Clock show, the broadcaster, who went through a divorce years ago, opened up about the pressures she has faced as a woman in the public eye.

She noted that society often places marriage and motherhood at the center of a woman’s identity.

I will marry again but at my own pace, it’s my baby-making era – MzGee

“As a young lady growing up, the prayer was always to get married, have children, and live happily ever after. But life had a different plan for me,” she said.

After her marriage ended, MzGee recalled constantly hearing comments about her “ticking biological clock.” Friends, family, and even strangers urged her to remarry and have children before it was “too late.”

By age 38, she still had no partner. Faced with the choice to keep waiting or move forward on her own terms, she chose the latter.

She disclosed the birth of her son on January 13, 2025. Instead of praise, her choice sparked criticism, with some accusing her of “going against God’s order.”

‘I resigned from TV3 because of a death prophecy’ – MzGee

In response, MzGee fired back, “Who made you God over us? Why do you use God to judge women like me? God is merciful, not you. I will thank God for my child any day.”

She also condemned the double standards women face when it comes to having children outside marriage, arguing that men in the same situation are rarely criticized.

“When men have children outside wedlock, society looks away. But when women do it, suddenly everyone becomes a judge. Even women join the chorus against us. We are tired,” she said.

MzGee urged people to show compassion rather than judgment, especially toward divorced women or those who are unable to marry despite their hopes.

“If you know what divorce feels like, or what it means to wait endlessly for marriage that never comes, you will not cast stones. Don’t shame us, pray for us. At my age, I know what I am doing. This is my life and my choice,” she added.
