Interim head coach of Asante Kotoko Abdul Karim Zito has disclosed that he does not know the names of all the players on his team, having signed for the club recently.

He explained that he is still in the process of adjusting and adapting to the team’s environment and finding the best ways to suit the side.

Zito noted that he will do his best to ensure the team reach its best level and competes for the Ghana Premier League title and other competitions to restore the club’s glory.

“I don’t even know the names of some of the players I’m working with… I don’t need to follow the media, I need to follow my experience to work in a way that will suit the boys. We had many counter-attacks in the game ” he said while speaking to the press after Kotoko’s goalless draw against Accra Hearts of Oak, as reported by GhOne TV.

Abdul Karim Zito replaced Prosper Ogum as the head coach of Asante Kotoko on April 21, 2025, following a dismissal.

He was appointed as interim head coach while the club restructured its technical team. He had previously been the coach of Dreams FC and Ghana’s U-20 team.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko played out a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium, with both teams failing to convert their chances in a keenly contested Ghana Premier League match.

The draw keeps Asante Kotoko in fourth place with 51 points, while Hearts of Oak sit sixth with 46 points, with their slim hopes of a league title all but extinguished.
