Ghana Football Association (GFA) spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum, has expressed optimism about a successful 2025 for Ghana football, following a disappointing 2024.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Asante Twum acknowledged that 2024 was a challenging year, labelling it a “bad year” for Ghana football due to a string of underwhelming performances across various national teams.

“The year 2024 was a bad year for our football. The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament, and the Black Galaxies also missed out on CHAN qualification,” he said.

Despite the setbacks, he remains hopeful that the Black Stars will achieve their target of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“I believe that 2025 will be a good year for our football. The Black Stars are on the right path in their World Cup qualifiers, and we hope to see them succeed,” Asante Twum added.

In 2024, Ghana faced a series of disappointments. The Black Stars exited the 2023 AFCON at the group stage and failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, the Black Galaxies missed out on CHAN qualification, and the Black Starlets failed to secure a spot in the U-17 AFCON.

However, the Black Satellites were a bright spot, qualifying for the 2025 U-20 AFCON, and the Black Princesses showed promise.
