If Ghanaian youth truly want to see the country progress, then they must be ready to step into politics themselves, according to rapper Kwaw Kese.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on February 18, 2026, the rapper said that if he ever decides to venture into politics, he would prefer to start as a Member of Parliament. He noted that he would represent his people in Agona Swedru, where he hails from.

According to Kwaw Kese, the responsibility for building a better Ghana lies with the youth. He stressed that if young people want to see the economy improve and the country become as beautiful and functional as they envision, then now is the time for them to get involved in governance, especially since they will soon become the nation’s decision-makers.

People assume I’m worldly because I don’t sing gospel – Kwaw Kese

“See, me, right now, what I can say is that if the youth really want to see Ghana doing great, Ghana being beautiful, Ghana having a good economy and all that, I think the youth have to start getting into politics. Because we are going to be the decision makers in the next couple of years,” he said.

He further explained that youth participation in politics must be driven by service rather than personal gain. In his view, when young people enter politics with the aim of advancing the interests of their communities instead of pursuing selfish ambitions, it benefits the entire nation.

“That’s why I see that if young people get into politics, not for their stomach but for the benefit of their communities, it’s good. We need a lot more youth to enter politics so they can take charge of the situation when these oldies are not there,” he added.

Kwaw Kese has long been known as a vocal critic of political leadership. In 2018, after losing his newborn baby at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, he expressed his frustration over the state of Ghana’s healthcare system.

In an Instagram video at the time, he described it as irresponsible for leaders to neglect the country’s health infrastructure.

The Hiplife artiste, angry with the system, said God should continue to punish Ghana and start killing these politicians one after the other.

“Is it not foolishness that, Nsawam Prisons has better conditions than Korle-Bu and other hospitals in the country? In these times people still lie on the floor in hospitals in Ghana.

“Come to think of it that the whole country has only 55 ambulances. Even with that a lot of them are not in good shape, but a political party bought 275 buses for its party members. God should continue to punish Ghana and start killing these politicians one after the other,” he added.
